Do you have any aging wells?
How many of those have been inspected in the last 5 years? 10 years? Or 20 years?
We’ve been on hundreds of well sites in the last year, and I can count on TWO hands how many did not have any issues.
You heard right – hundreds, with maybe 10 that had nothing wrong.
I’m not even talking about huge things. Just the simplest of things, for example, a $55 pressure gauge that’s just broken, signage you can’t read or is missing. Anything that is wrong is a potential hazard that needs to be fixed before an incident happens. YOU DON’T want to make the news!
For example - We were on a site with a lockout tag on it. We couldn’t quite read the date…some year in the 90’s. The well is just sitting there with a red tag. Is it locked out? Why was it locked out? What’s wrong with it? Did somebody put a lock on there, fixed it, and then forgot to pull their lock off? There’s no documentation, so no one knows.
